These Are a Few of My Favorite Things. . .

Although I am not Oprah and, sadly, cannot give these away to everyone, I want to share a few of my favorite things with you. These are random items that I think everyone should have in his/her life.

10. Coffeemate Peppermint Creamer-- Christmas in a cup. Not as good as a white chocolate peppermint mocha at Starbucks, but a nice substitute at home.

9. A good pen. Between class notes, my job, and my obsession with list-making, I write a lot. A good pen makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. My favorite: Pilot V-5 Extra Fine pen. I'm a nerd.

8. Kitchen shears. Such a simple thing, but such a big help. I use them for everything in the kitchen. Especially great for cutting up meat to go in casseroles when you are uncoordinated with knives.

7. Great-smelling perfume/cologne. There's something about smelling good that makes me feel prettier and more confident. No idea why, but it's true. My current favorites are D&G Light Blue and SJP NYC.

6. Vera Bradley ID holder. Ok, so this one doesn't really apply to the guys. And it doesn't have to be Vera Bradley, but I've just found that they're the cutest and have stayed at $10 for a long time now. Like everyone at FHU, I discovered these in college and now could not live without the extra chapstick and debit card storage conveniently located with my keys so I can't lose it!

5. A "rock-out" CD for when you're alone in the car. (Or, not alone if you are bolder than myself.) I recommend N*Sync. However, some days I am not feeling like a rock star and like to pop in the Across the Universe soundtrack. It's incredible.

4. Soy candles. Well, ok, just candles. I just like to buy soy because it makes me feel eco-friendly--just a way for me to help the environment since I forget to bring my reusable grocery bags every stinkin' time. Our apartment has a permanent stench of stale smoke thanks to our neighbors on both sides, and this helps with the smell. A little, anyway.

3. Burt's Bees lip tint. Worth every penny. It's the perfect combination of chapstick and lipstick (which I have to have because my lips are naturally devoid of any color). And it tastes minty.

2. OnDemand. I'm sure you've discovered it by now, but I have to list it as a favorite. It's so nice to be able to watch our favorite shows (The Office, Survivor, The Apprentice) without having to work our schedules around when they actually come on.

1. Discount Stores/Websites. Liquidation Outlet, McKay's Bookstore, Groupon, TJMaxx, consider me obsessed. I can hardly go a day without buying some awesome deal... so much for saving money. But at least this way, I don't feel as guilty about it!

Changes

Well, needless to say, it's been a while since I've posted on here. I love reading everyone else's blogs (slightly stalkerish?), but feel like I don't have anything to say that anyone else would be interested in reading. But maybe slightly stalkerish people like myself will read it anyway. :)

A Little Update:

*After my husband graduated in May, we moved back to Murfreesboro- the city where we grew up and where both of our families still live. (Growing up, we both said we'd NEVER move back here once we got away. We wanted to be independent and free. Then we moved 3 hours away... and couldn't wait to be home. There's nothing like it.)

However, it is weird to be away from FHU. The real world is different.

*We got a dog! Best decision ever. Because our dog is the best. He is well behaved, tiny enough to wear adorable outfits, and POTTY TRAINED. (We don't like to brag about him or anything, though.)

*Josh got offered the full-time job we were praying for! God is AWESOME.

*I started law school. Hard stuff. But really enjoyable and fascinating. I'm also working part-time at a mini-storage, which has been a HUGE blessing because the people are wonderful and I'm able to study there.

*We have become involved with the youth group at our church, and we love it. The youth group was such a special place for us (it's where we met- insert 'aww'), so we felt called to help with it however we could. Teenagers can be much more spiritual than adults give them credit for, and I love witnessing that.

*Just a cheesy thing I have to throw in: Married life is so much better than I could've imagined. We love finding out new things about each other (which we didn't think was possible) and discovering new ways to have fun together.
